Not that I would have any personal way of knowing

but from what I understand a significant number of visitors to popular .co.uk sites "bleed over" to the .com and type that in instead. So if you develop at .co.uk you had really better have the .com too. I have no idea how much reverse bleed over there is from .com to .co.uk.
