Hello from the Scottish Borders!

Hi all,

I am new to buying and selling domains but I do own a three websites. I built my first site around a hobby I am interested in, I don't really advertise it and it is now doing fairly well. I have expanded on that and now have a site where I part time deal in the products relating to my hobby. I also purchased an off the shelf domain with content.

I have been reading this forum for a while and trying to learn the do's and dont's as well as what makes a successful domain but obviously I have a lot to learn.

My main aim is to develop 20-30 sites and try and perhaps make a little on advertising on each. My main reference site earns me about £60 a month via Google and eBay ads. If I could build 20-30 sites that could earn half that I'd be happy. Plus buying, selling and especially finding new domain names looks like fun.

I have been on a bit of a spending spree this week buying domain names. I have about 25 now but have found a few more I want to buy. Most have been either registered by me, some I have bought for £20-£30. The most expensive was middle £xx I paid for a town name.

I know what you are all thinking, probably a pile of cr*p but I think I've scored a couple of decent names.

I'll list my domains in a few weeks-month once I have completed the purchase of my new ones. I don't want to show my hand as it where or show what I have just yet as some of the new ones I'm looking at are very similar to or are much the same as the ones I recently bought.

Anyway this looks like a great place and I'm glad to be on board!

The general consensus seems to be that developing a few sites well it much better than having tons of tiny sites. I can't say I'm an expert when it comes to development though, so other members might disagree.

Thanks scooter. The two domains don't get a lot of local exacts but obviously HD is still up and coming in the world of computers and tablets. I think the new ipad3 has an HD screen . Can you imagine how cool a Poker or Casino site using great graphics in High Definition would be, perhaps there already is some? They are both definetly keepers and one day a big company might want to buy or rent them to develop a great gaming site on them. I doubt I'll have the funds to do them justice.
