Help wanted - please send a republican candidate to the states

It seems that our republican party over here is having a lot of trouble finding a candidate they can get behind. Our "pray away the gay" candidate Bachmann has fallen out of favor, as has our "just because my ranch was named an incredibly awful racial slur does not mean I'm a racist" candidate Perry. There is another guy who has some religion that its hard for us to understand, even though we are so open minded. And the new guy made a lot of pizza, so for now that sounds like good business sense and we're likely to vote for him at this point.

But if you all could perhaps send someone over, we'll probably love him or her no matter what at this point.

(p.s. - just curious - how embarassing is US politics right now? Or is it just plain scary?)

I always found Ron Paul to speak a lot of sense, 10% flat tax rate for everyone regardless of what people earn is a clever idea. Wasn't a crackpot from what I have read either...

I think, despite being a flip flopping Mormon, it's Romney's to lose. There does seem to be a desire to put someone else forward for the nomination, first Bachmann, then Perry, and now Herman Cain, but will any of them get enough support? I quite like Ron Paul too actually, but fear he speaks too much sense to get elected .

I don't think it will make any difference because Obama will win in 2012, but I'm all in favour of a strong Republican candidate because those in power need to have their ideas and authority challenged.

Romney looks the best of a bad bunch but is essentially uninspiring - a Republican version of John Kerry with the same end result.

You think you have problems with politics? The UK has an unprecented skinful to deal with. Good on Obama generously sending 100 non-combatant men to Uganda. Africa is fried, as is Afghanistan.
