rules

The only problem with this one is that the rules may not even allow the transfer!

Why do you say that?

I have confirmed with nominet on the phone that the only restriction is they have to be registered to an individual not a company.

So if it’s a company a nominated person (company secretary for example) would be fine.

Whats wrong with the asking price? Imagine the potential with a bit of good SEO!

There cannot be anything wrong with the asking price as reserve has been met. :)

Things are changing in the UK market. In terms of SEO, org.uk and me.uk are every bit as good as co.uk. They are only let down by no direct type-ins.

I remember first coming here in May last year. At that time the general consensus for org.uk was "reg fee". Now we have active members (some with deep pockets) seeking out good generic org.uk's and me.uk's

In terms of .uk there is no such thing as a bad extention if you have a good generic.

Good luck with the sale. Someone has already decided £1k is a fair price which they expect to recover in the long term.

The type-ins are much lower with the .orgs but my domain hotsex.org.uk is parked and recives a nice amount of type-ins.

Just read the rules relating to .me.uk at:
http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrants/aboutdomainnames/rules/

Section 9.4.2 would seem to indicate that they could remove nameservers on a .me.uk domain if they thought it was being used by someone other than an individual entity.
...Sorry Slater, that's not quite right - 9.4.2 refers to 9.4.1, which says:

9.4.1 Where, as the result of the DRS or judicial proceedings (of relevant jurisdiction) a .me.uk domain name is to be transferred to a person who would not qualify under Rule 9.2 (the “transferee”), the transfer to, and continued registration by, the transferee shall be permitted provided that no use is made of that .me.uk domain name for any purpose, for so long as the transferee holds the domain name.

...I've highlighted the relevent bits ;)

Regards,

Sneezy.

The first part of the section states:

"The .me.uk SLD is intended to provide a personal namespace within the .uk Top Level Domain. Unless Rules 9.4 or 9.5 apply, registrants of .me.uk domain names must be, and remain at all times, natural persons (a “qualifying person”), and shall not be recorded on the register as being the agent, trustee, proxy or representative for any person or entity (whether having an individual legal personality or not) which is not a qualifying person"

Surely a company who were using a .me.uk for a corporate website would be contravening the rules even if it was registered to an individual in the company.

amazed

I think we are missing the point here...... the fact that someone is willing to pay £1,000 for this domain..... we all need to reassess our .uk domain values......

in 2 years, the difference between co, org and me will be a lot less than now. we will start to see more and more orgs and mes hitting page 1 on google. imho, the sensible ones are starting to accumulate now !
