HP TouchPad £89 16gb £115 32gb anyone else find any... got a few from hp website then site crashed lol

I presume they are cheap as HP are stopping making PCs & tablets. I also presume they will be stopping any repairs and the like, so after your guarantee you'll be a bit stuck!

Wow seem to be sold out everywhere offering this price now if the android port comes about may have to get one

You can still get the 16gb ones at pcworld, in the Northwest at least.

And the 32gb ones, ive just checked

I think its just errors with so many people using it, I initially tried at 10-11 when I read the post, but the search for store kept malfunctioning, so I tried a few times and eventually booked a 16 and 32 at different stores, that was only 10 minutes ago.

I imagine lots of people wont turn up so you could be lucky in store.

Update on my two.

One phone call at 9.30 said they had an error and had reserved more than they had in stock.

Called other store and they just said they didn't have any.

Typical, I would like to see how many were processed through the till today though. Bet all the staff and family had their fill. Still I guess that's a perk for working there so better they get them than some random late night shopper like me lol

If anyone got any that they are selling at not too high a mark up feel free to let me know.

I just got an order through on staples Caz. The site was running deadly slow so if it actually in stock by the time they get it sorted. worth a try I guess if you have the patience

Got an order in on Staples this morning for 4 and midnight for another 4 via amazon at the £89 price point.

Who knows if they will be fulfilled though :)

Did you get an order confirmation from staples rob still nothing arrived for me so not to hopeful

This is going to end up being a PR disaster for the companies selling them off cheap. I can't imagine the amount of revenue they'll get back from the sale will offset the loss from having their entire ecommerce back-end grind to a halt for half a day or more, plus you only have to dip into Twitter, MoneySavingExpert.com etc. to see that there are MANY disgruntled "customers" per actual successful customer. The backlash will come...

I guess some retailers are only going to hae a handful in stock. Edwin is pretty much bang on, think of the loss in sales for one day on the DABs site caused by outages - not good publicity and people are only looking to buy one item and get the hell out, so its not even as if the etailer is generating potential and future business.

This reminds of maybe 5 years ago when Nokia had a firesale of on one of their tablets running maemo - a primitive linux system. They got rid of thousands of them for around sixty quid instead of several hundred. I still have one tucked away - it was bloody useless...hopefully the WebOS and hardware are something different.

Incidentally, Amazon.co.uk seems "weird" until you dig a bit deeper, as their price keeps changing as well as availability. What's actually happening is different Amazon Marketplace vendors are popping up, dumping their handful of tablets (at fairly high prices, too) and when they're wiped out it goes out of stock until the next vendor pops up (or gets pulled from the database into the main search results).

Theres Linux and android ports in development so even if hp don't develop the software wont be left with a turkey
