It does make me laugh how many people will buy reduced products, just because they are reduced. I wonder what percentage wanted this item, or even knew it existed before they saw all the hysteria online. If you want a cheap tablet get a proper iPad here... Second Hand iPad

BTW, I updated the page mentioned earlier in the thread to add several more retailers that look as if they MAY still have/get stock. I say "may" because as the chaos with Dixons, Staples, Dabs, Comet, Currys, CPW and PC World shows, all bets are off when thousands of people are on the hunt...

If you have the spare funds probably worth ordering one from Argos at current price whilst they have stock left. Surely they will have to drop the price soon and will hopefully refund the difference if not you have 7 days to return under distance selling rules

Nothing from either.

Incidentally, Amazon.co.uk seems "weird" until you dig a bit deeper, as their price keeps changing as well as availability. What's actually happening is different Amazon Marketplace vendors are popping up, dumping their handful of tablets (at fairly high prices, too) and when they're wiped out it goes out of stock until the next vendor pops up (or gets pulled from the database into the main search results).

Wow, thanks Rob! If some were from Staples, the cancellations have been falling like raindrops according to MoneySavingExpert.com - I simply can't believe how so many companies are willing to machine gun themselves in the foot from a customer (dis)service perspective...

I thought that. I think many people, including plenty who probably shouldn't afford even the reduced prices, are getting in on it. I'm glad I avoided it all, although I do have to pop back to Best Buy sometime this week to get the difference refunded. I'd rather that than mess about online trying to place an order. I'm debating whether I am even going to keep one of the three I purchased for myself, given I already own an iPad and a PlayBook. Although I use both of those, I don't think I'd use a third tablet.

There are several threads on MoneySavingExpert on the subject which combined got 150,000 views. I've seen other massively popular threads on other forums. The backlash against the retailers must be immense, as not one of them seems to have acquitted themselves very well (sites down, orders cancelled, in-store reservations "lost" - i.e. handed to staff through the back door - etc. etc. - the litany of complains is VERY long). HP must be tarnished by association, they're certainly not crowing about a marketing coup, that's for sure!

Shame. I get the impression that people are getting stiffed by just about every e-retailer on this one.

I assume the Pre 3 will kick off exactly the same kind of chaotic bunfight given that it's a pretty powerful SIM-free smartphone for a (rumoured) sub-£50 firesale price when they start releasing stocks.

They probably oversold stocks - their algorithms probably do that for certain products...I'm still trying to figure out how they supplied so many baseball bats during the riots.
