Looks like all of Stevens domains at domains.co.uk have been transferred into the name of (I assume his son) Zak

What an inheritance uh.

Interesting, especially when you think of the rules surrounding gifting assets.

They're not assets though. Not in the strictest sense and not to any accountant I've met including my own. They're recurring expenses. Sell one and that's a different story.

What happened to Steven. Is he still around?

re

But nosey and rude for you to be discussing this on a public forum don't you think?

How would you like it if someone was discussing your family finances...

I think its bordering on Public Interest for this sector.

I don't know if anything has happened to Steven, but if Bill Gates suddenly passed microsoft to his son, would it be discussed in public tech forums ?

re

You have a point because the domains Steven owns are rare/unique and so on.

But the inheritance bit is rather nosey, especially on a public forum.

I doubt anyone on here would want names of children or other family members thrown around without permission because someone is digging into future finance arrangements.

There wouldn't be a lot to discuss

I was simply posting on the leading .uk forum that the leading .uk domain portfolio has changed hands as a point of general interest.

My thoughts went nowhere beyond "what a great portfolio to be handed"

I don't know them personally or their situation, I hope it's just a passing of the torch and Steven himself is in good health.

I think the change of registrant for such a large quality portfolio is very interesting indeed, thanks for posting.

Looks like they're all up for lease. I don't understand the lease model. Surely, someone can effectively trash a domain and hand it back virtually worthless?

Wow i just went to domains/dot/co.uk and saw some of those domains on the home page.

Never seen his portfolio before? it's the best  he sold money co uk for $2.4 a few years ago.

I've never really understood leasing from the other side, you make a domain a great success then lose the lease.. ouch.

If having a certain name makes a difference then how’s it not make sense too lease it e.g. lease abc .com make 50k in 1 year or struggle with your own xyz.com and only make 1k a year ouch or worse your competition leases it and blows you out of the water bigger ouch …If you make a bigger profit by leasing then lease it ? your profit is what counts not who owns the name?
