Hi,

Got quick questions. As we all know, everyone is chasing the generics and names with type-in traffic. Seems like they are getting harder to fine though....

FIRST QUESTION
What I am interested in hearing about is people's experience with buying keyword rich domain names in certain industries with the intention of getting them just for their SEO value. In other words, getting names that are in good industries, that their keywords have high search volume with the understanding that one could develop a competitive advantage with regard to ranking.

Getting these names and ranking them and putting quick mini-sites on them.

SECOND QUESTION
Does anyone here use Evolanding.com or DomainEmbark.com? Their whole idea is to get your domains ranking and get content on them (autogen) for indexing.....

EvoLanding are only accepting 6-8% of the names submitted to them.

Despite sending them well over 50 names as a test, they rejected the whole lot even though all of them were true two word generic names - they were very polite about it, but bit of a waste of time I thought nevertheless, although that may be a little harsh on my part.

I understand they consider themselves a sort of hedge fund for domain portfolio owners, at least that's what I think Michael was trying to convey in his email communications to me, from a week or two ago.

Certainly, if it works, I'm sure they'll do well, although their templates I still thought for end users, people viewing the content on them etc, looked like something concocted up in the dark ages of the 1990's.

All of these kinds of services I think need to expend a lot more effort in the design department of pages designed on behalf of their clients, this is the 21st century, not the 1990's anymore.

Having said that, they also claim to have 8 different revenue streams coming on to your site.

Who knows, maybe they will be a force for change, maybe not.

You decide.

And after saying that, my two sites in my sig, are not exactly glaring examples of web design finesse. :-D
