My dissertation domain names' stats are as follows...

3,600 local exact matches with a CPC of £2.33
&
2,900 local exact matches with a CPC of £0.69

Both with medium competition.

Two questions if I may? Firstly, what would be a prudent prediction of the level of income of using something like Adsense?

How do you use these values to detrmine the valuation? I appreciate that is only one way to valuate as a number of factors need to be taken into consideration but it would be interesteing to me as I like dealing with figures and a lot of the other factors are subjective. I do understand that the most subjective one is that any domain name is only worth the maximum someone is willing to pay for it.

Thanks

Dale

the stated CPC is the max you are likely to receive for a click, chance of getting it is minimal. Google adds are pretty random according to your content, it is possible to force adds but i will let the dev boys answer that one.

Your estimation would be almost impossible to estimate until you reach the fist page. I estimate traffic for positioning in Google as such (But these factors are sooooo variable):

1. - 50% of searchers on your page
2. - 22% of searchers on your page
3. - 13% of searchers on your page
4. - 5.4% of searchers on your page
5. - 2.1% of searchers on your page
6. - 1.8% of searchers on your page
7. - 0.9% of searchers on your page
8. - 0.5% of searchers on your page
9. - 0.3% of searchers on your page
10. - 1.8 % of searchers on your page

So in the top position in Google for 3,600 exacts = 1,800 page views. About 2% will click = 36 clicks a month. For the keyword - now you have pages of other long tail keywords to calculate.

BUT some times you will get 80% of searchers on your page.....If you get £2.33 per click i will eat my trousers:)

I have safetytrainingcourses.co.uk at pos 4 in google with 390 exacts, £2.87 CPC. So with the maths above i will get half a click a day and earn nothing. Yep it is right but over the last two days i have over 30 quid with a CPC of £1.00.

Trial and error, but my domain is crap and need loads of work, pushed to the top and then get advertisers to advertise their business geographically. I don't have the time or the money to make that happen.

Honestly start building, learn and review. Then ask questions because you have reached a point where you are stuck rather than asking 30 questions before you get your feet wet.

Some projects will just fail and never get positioning no matter what you do and others will just jump up and sit nicely. Simply try and get your site earning 1 quid a day, any more is a big bonus for now.

@ whibs you certainly know how to dish advice out whibs, and for a self confessed newbie just 113 posts and less than 1 month ago.

Your transformation is something we should all applaud.

Thanks Whibs, I take your point got a bit carried away with the questions, but I'm learning slowly. Got 10 to work with so that's a nice round number. Going to work on the dissertation ones because I can easily add content and advice to those.

Just to let everyone know that I called 123-reg this morning and after arguing twice about a refund they finally agreed! So the domains should be canelled soon and the money back in my account.

Cheers Caz - I have been buying and selling domains for years but on a much smaller scale and predominately .net and & .org, I understand the value and how to gain that value, i am a new member to the forum but by no means new to the game. I wanted to invest time in development of my domains, as i see the need to have a consistent revenue stream.

Buying and selling is an easy way to make a quick return but i want a return that will be there every month and the only way to get there is dev.

Unfortunately i just can't find the time, new baby, financial demands force me to continue to stick to what i know. I am trying to buy a house next year and my wife and i have decided to try get a big deposit together, one year of hard selling;-) Because i sell to endusers and broker a few domains i know the structure and value, it is my job to ensure that i pass that over to any potential buyers - in order to do that i must be as fluent in understanding domain potential as any. Buyers like to hear a return on invest potential and in order to give this i have sheets that calculate according to the figures i quoted, except my sheets can also estimate return on investment comparatively via paying adsense, through cost per item and profit margins as well as the investment in a keyword domain. The figures i quoted are those i use to estimate value and return on investment.

I decided to look to broker domains in the UK, in order to do that i needed to create a profile - where better than here, so the newbee was created. But high valued domains are much more difficult to sell, so for now i am grabbing cheap domains, flipping them as fast as i can, i spend most nights 3 to 4 hours every day, doing this.

@ whibs, great to hear that things are working out, not bad stats btw. You might want to put a privacy policy on your sites that have been indexed...

@ jonesyd awesome that you got that refund, not a large amount involved but on principle 123 just got 5 points:)

They have no points yet Viceroy as they still haven't deleted them, will call them again tomorrow and hopefully not have to argue about the refund was good for the principal though as they tried to fob me off with the system says no excuse twice!

@whibs

I'm sure you will find a few people on here who will let you broker their domains. It's also very good of you to share so much, I hope it's rewarded and your in that house sooner rather than later :)

@ whibs

Brilliant posts and very useful for newbishbees like myself, I have sort of followed your advice by buying dogs, stopped buying any more dogs and concentrated on learning what to do with the dogs I have got ;)

Great information and much appreciated, good luck with the deposit.
