from zee ,looking for book on hosting and mini sites , I want to redirect to minisites [like I do with sedo ],maintaining control over domains not passing over to hosting comp,
I am self taught on pc , have serif for quick sites, have hostgator for 1 site in us [no vat ]
have tried all usual ,comp book sites but found nothing to explain.....as I am disabled , i'v had to teach myself and still finding parts of excel I did not know existed. so now housebound and would appreciate any website address where I could find info on hosting without handing domains over to hosting comp.
so if you know any titles, or books that I could use please let me know ,so I can buy them, can only use pc for limited time ,due meds, thats why I need books or mags that I can read a few times in order to understand....so any titles + web add to purchase ,appreciated...zee

Hi

You can always keep the company you hold your domains with separate from the company you host your website with.

For example, let's say you register a domain, www.thissiterocks.com, with GoDaddy.com.

You then open some hosting with Hostgator. You use the Hostgator control panel to create settings for a new website.

Then go to your GoDaddy.com control panel, and point the Nameservers associated with www.thissiterocks.com to those that Hostgator tells you to, which will be something like:

ns1.hostgator.com
ns2.hostgator.com

Then FTP up your web files into your Hostgator ac.

So, in summary, all you ever do is point the Nameservers of your domain name to that required by your hosting company. You'll continue to get billed for renewals of www.thissiterocks.com at GoDaddy, but actual hosting of the site is provided by Hostgator.

Hope that helps.

Rgds

Don't think there are books Zee, it's trial and error and has not been done that successfully on a large scale to warrant a book/ebook.
