Hi,

I've just parked my domains with Namedrive, but I've found that most of them don't seem to fit into any of the categories available.

The ones in question mainly have light/heavy industrial connections, eg plant, machinery and or services for those sectors. These don't really fit into business/law or technology, so I've left categorisation till I can better judge where to place them.

May I suggest a new category of 'Industrial', or similar? I think it'd be a little more appropriate, and add flexibilty to your system.

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi there,

We're currently implementing our new category section and we're hoping to have pretty much everything covered. We will have 'Office buildings', 'Services', 'Freight' and 'commercial vehicles'. Do you think there will still be more things that you need in that direction? We obviously want to cover everything possible, but any categorisation system has its limits.

Thanks for trying us out and I hope that the results prove to be as good for you as for many other users on this forum.

Ed

yup, music's up there.

We were asked for music back in August. It's a pity that it's taken so long to get up there, but we now have the music header to go with it :)

Half of our new headers came in on Saturday and they're looking good. The new 6 are now: automotive, dating, flowers, jobs, music and pets. We also have the games header which has been rattling around our system for a while. We should have another 7 headers on the way today or tomorrow.

It should be no time before they're up for our members with a new column in the member area where you can choose the header per domian independant of the category - which will serve the function of getting those high-paying, highly-searched Related Searches up on your domains.

Any more categories you'd like to see? Any more headers you'd like to see?

Hi Ed,

Thanks for your reply.

I agree: it must be difficult to get the categorisation right. Too broad and ther categories are clunky and unsubtle, too much into minutiae and it becomes a chore to navigate and manage.

In the case of the industrial stuff, perhaps you could have an 'Industrial Goods and Services' category, which would cover everything from rolling mills to ladder hire. Or, if that's too long or too coarse-grained, perhaps you could split it into 'Industrial Goods' eg rolling mills, and 'Industrial Services' eg ladder hire.

Also, thanks for the welcome to Namedrive. I hope to have similar results to the others on the forum (it was their positive comments that made me think I'd give you a try), but I suspect that'll be a while down the road. I've parked my domains with you only shortly after acquiring them, so I still have to do all the SEO spadework.

Actually, this prompts a further question. Are your services tailored for both domains with established traffic and new, trafficless domains, or just the former? I'm thinking in terms of the way your parked pages are constructed and the like. For instance your pages could be constructed so as to help to attract new traffic, or it could be assumed that that work should have been done with a another page before parking occurred.

A bit long-winded, but I hope you get my drift. I'm wondering if it would be better to get traffic and then come to you, or if it is a process that could work while using your services.

Thanks for your help so far,
Mike.

Hi Mike,

Sorry for the long delay in replying. This thread was down as 'read' on my screen and I kept forgetting to come back and post.

Our system is ideally set up for both types of traffic mentioned:

Firstly, you can optimize your names for new traffic so that the relevant ads, as you see them end up on the page.

Secondly, our pages self-learn, which is excellent for expired traffic which is notoriously different to optimize for. If a lot of people come to your page and search for and click on the same term, then your page 'learns' that term and it goes to your related searches.

Google forbids parking companies to SEO their pages, so expired traffic obviously has that advantage over newly-registered ones.

Hope the names you have with us are performing well. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with specific to your account.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for your reply. No problem about the delay: it's easy to miss new posts on forum pages. I know I've done it often. In any case, I can imagine how busy you are.

I think the best thing I can do is play about with the various account settings, and see what performs best. As I've said though, I think it'll be a while before things really kick in as I'm in the process of doing the SEO optimisation, and we all know how the time-lag on that goes. I was hoping on soon deciding what to do with a second tranch of domains, but I think that I might wait to see how this pans out. No point rushing, huh?

Aside from this, there is something further you could help on. I'm interested (along, I would imagine, with many others) in the domain portfolio analysis you're offering. Assuming the qualification conditions are met (with me it's on the amount of domains parked - no idea on amount of hits yet!), would account holders have to contact you at the end of the first month to discuss this, or would you contact them automatically?

Again, thanks for your help so far. I appreciate your efforts.

Mike.
