newb question on .com contact details

newb question again sorry.
when you search nominet for info on a .co.uk you get a contact name for the domain, but not when you search verisign for a .com.
how do you find contact details for a .com?

I undertand that it can be a big mistake in some cases to contact owners of a domain, lifting your head above the parapet as it were, to tell them you may have something of interest to them, so i'll no doubt be asking advice on that before i do so, but for now, how do you find .com contact details in the 1st place?

Not sure where your searching on Verisign.......

but most people search whois.internic.net to find the register

http://www.internic.net/whois.html

Then go to the register whois e.g. whois.enom.com to find the contact details

http://www.enom.com/domains/whois.asp
