Personal Trainer does £12m via Instagram

After reading http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/bar/137401-healthy-lifestyle-websites.html the other day it reminded me of this story.

It's about Joe Wicks, a personal trainer in London, who started an Instagram account in January 2014 and instead of teaching one-on-one in person, proceeded to sell an online personal training experience.

In the first year he turned over £1.3m with a net profit of £1.1m (high margin due to e-product + low marketing spend) and this year is set to turn over £12m.

He has a 4-book deal, with his yet-to-be-released book having been sat at #1 bestseller on Amazon for weeks and also aims to do a TV show.

I love stuff like this where someone takes a regular job and uses the internet to add automation and scale - good luck to the guy

This would have been an even sweeter story if he had done so using a website and therefore a domain name. Might be great news for the internet industry but doesn't do many favours for this (domain name) industry. Still, well done to guy!

He does have a website, it's where he signs people up but yeah, it's kind of the different to the usual "I have the domain name bangers.co.uk, should I sell cars or sausages?" domain discussion.
