Nope - pure cybersquatting.

Here's the acid test: if they had not announced a product of that name it would be worth exactly 0 pounds, 0 pence and nobody would EVER think of registering it.

It's not even 1% "generic" - you're just piggybacking on an invented name that may or may not get popular through the efforts and hard work of the company making the product.

This kind of blatant money grab gives the whole domain trading industry a bad name.

And that makes them "part of the problem"...

If a new product is announced, for example, look at keywords relating to the technology behind it, the niche it's in, etc. Look for anything generic to do with the product. That way, you're much safer and you can also sell to other players in the same niche.

So from the original article, something like netpower.co.uk might be a reasonable bet. I'm not saying it's definitely going to have value, but it's the generic side of the announcement. Of course, you still need to do trademark checks etc.
