A new report released yesterday shows that almost half of British children aged 9 to 12 are using social networking sites. The research from EUKidsOnline also found that one in five children has their own Facebook page, despite the minimum age requirements on the site.

The authors of the report suggest that removing age limits on social networking sites would help authorities to monitor children’s online behaviour and develop measures to protect them.
