Hi

I recently purchased the org.uk domain for a major global company whose name is Trademarked. I'm quite new domain selling and I'm not sure what my rights are and am beginning to think that it's not such a good idea to own a name which is trademarked. I have a few questions I need answers to please:

1. Am I allowed to park it and make money from clicks?
2. How difficult will it be for me to sell it to someone else or to the company themselves?

Cheers :)

1). no, u will get done for trying t o earn of there brand/name
2). if i were u get rid quickly and quietly. if its trademarked u wont stand a chance if they DRS u.

Thanks for the advice :)

Oh dear, I'm a little bit worried now. I'm not familair with the DRS procedure, will I be fined or charged? Or will I have to just give up the domain name? Sorry for all the questions

you won't be fined or charged,

if you do let it go all the way to DRS and argue it, then lose. You'll get a strike and 3 of those and they ban you from holding domain registrations with the uk extension

although if you have been trading on it and earning money. They may take you to civil court, this is very very rare and you must have seriously peeved someone off.

Who told you that shite? That is incorrect.

I was informed that when I had my last letter regarding DRS, late 2005.

That's always how I understood it, wether it is true not I ain't going to argue. Sounded reasonable to me, otherwise what would be the deterrent to going round buying multiple TM's.

If I can find my source I will do, if not, no worries!

Maybe the last solicitors letter I had was a bit misleading when they mentioned a "3 strikes rule". They dressed it up to mean me losing my registrations. I just took it as gospel, never had another since so didn't look into it.

Dodgy gits, just looked it up and it wasn't what they indicated it was,

lol Glad I never gave them the name now.

Hi,

Thanks for all the info and advice. In this instance is there a way of unregistering the domain name, or do I have to sit quietly until it expires?

Thanks again :)

Annoy Nominet by transferring the domain into the name of a non-existant person. OR - surrender it.
