When looking for a potential suitable buyer for a domain is it standard / acceptable practice to email them directly with an offer or to ask if they are interested?

Thanks for your time.

Paul

Yes and No.

If it's a .uk domain:

If it's a generic domain like bikes.co.uk then it's fine.

If you've got "BradfordBicycles.co.uk" and you email Bradford Bicycles and ask them if they want it for £20k then that's a bit iffy because it could go against you in a DRS.

Thanks for that.

So the 'general' rule would be to stick to generic names - that way you are not dangling carrots that you could end up losing out on long term!?

Cheers

But 'Bradford Bicycles' is generic.

same as London Casinos, Manchester Coach Hire, Dorset Solicitors etc?

Unless you are offering the names for sale for less than the cost of a DRS.
