So anyway I've got 'flu and am missing a friend's stag weekend in Hungary, so I'm miffed.

Am I alone in despising cold & flu pill-pushers on TV whose propaganda suggests that after consuming their powders and potions, their customers are OK to do a normal day's work around other people?

Just because they've masked their symptoms doesn't mean they're not sick, and ill folk should be at home resting rather than spreading it about on the Tube. But having said that, if the 'flu didn't spread then fewer people would buy their products. So I guess it's in these companies' interests to spread a bit of misinformation too.

Or am I being too cynical and complaining too much? :)

No... O've had a workplace full of coughers and splutterers this week... so I've reversed the tactics and worked from home.

Try a bit of rumbling ;) always does the trick... Word of further advice, don't snot on him, her or animal (which ever you preference)

Touch wood, I've not been ill since one of the reasons I started on my crusade to get fit sparkled as an idea. I felt like I was dying - I reckon I was when I got a cold/flu last year, I almost couldn't breathe, an ambulance was nearly called. Since then I've lost 3 and a half stone (slowed down a lot but I have to work and capitilise on Christma ) and stopping smoking in December has done the world of good.

And yes the medicine adverts do my head in, I know I'm Millwall but I really do think I'm returning to a neandertal man. I've never been easy with taking medicines and pills so don't and only used to take beechams 3 in 1 when I got a cold for a week and it got too bad - I do have honey every day - a myth that works? and if you get an headache just go to kip. I used to get ill twice a year when I started smoking before that I'd only have days off work for hangovers and heavy weekends.

Another thing on the "we do coughing in our adverts to hope you'll psychologically do the same" adverts is the wording, beforehand medicines were the cure to flu but afterwards with the actual bird flu outbreak and it getting closer to our shores, their solicitors must've decided that wording it like that could open them up to lawsuits, either that or they saw more sales in advance of you keeling over from bird flu. "help ease the strain before a cure is found" They proclaimed last year.

I don't eat frozen food, hardly eat any pre packaged goods, I'm trying to get fit, trying to get Nominet to not waste paper and I don't take pills and medicine, I don't smoke, only binge drink on a match day and they're few and far between these days due to costs of travel, adoing all this is supposed to make me a sex mad machine, just no girl has put 50p in the meter yet haha

But anyway, the flu is back is it? this will be the real test I suppose, if I avoid it like I did in spring then stopping smoking and not being obese anymore has worked. Just watch out for dead birds... especially if they're lying next to you the following morning.
