Seems expensive enough to me?

Why? 2,900 exacts, over $31 a click, and the top term for a large niche within the overall life insurance industry. Any company doing PPC will save the cost of the domain name in no time at all thanks to the higher click-through rate it's likely to bring with it... It's probably worth checking out our Adwords case study if you haven't had the chance to yet http://www.memorabledomains.co.uk/ppcanalysis.pdf

Yeah I suppose. I'm not really a domainer but I just got the feeling that it was a little bit expensive.

Edit - Just saw an ad on TV that was about over 50s life insurance. Never knew that this is one of the most used terms in the life insurance niche as you mentioned.

i was trying to off load overfiftyinsurance.co.uk for ages with no takers

I think that's one of those awkward cases where the domain name is at 2 removes to the core term. "50" is searched for much more than "fifty" and also the "life" part is essential to narrow things down to the right kind of insurance (i.e. not travel, car and so on).

Good sale! The pensioners have got all the money ;) ...... could have sold for a bit more.

The pensioners have got all the money

Na, they dont. They are as fecked as everyone else....

Annuity rates are at an all time low and the housing market has stalled so they cant sell for the top dollar they needed to release even more cash.

Interest rates are super low so their investments/cash are under performing and inflation is outstripping retail linked pensions.

It just shows there is a good market for exact match domains. They will probably use that
url to get traffic to their main website. In USA lots of millionaire domainers have been registering longer domains, if you have ever had a website and know how much advertising costs you can see why. Like Edwin says its $31 a click.
