September .uk drop discussion

...and masks.uk, taxes.uk
I wonder if this is by the .co.uk owner

I suspect Nominet or Fasthosts have reached out to the original owners of the .co.uk's to ask them if they want them (Maybe even for free)

Masks.co.uk has an iframe embedded which is linked from subdomain egarbs.demon.co.uk and the root domain demon.co.uk is owned by Vodaphone.

Masks.uk was the best one out of all of them given the current situation we have with covid, i suspect Masks.uk would have easily fetched £xx,xxx

It's an old fashioned ecommerce platform you got subdomains on

soundproofing.uk just renewed last minute - what are the chances??

He usually renews the evening of the drop, or on many occasions well into the drop day, like with soundproofing.co.uk and soundproofers.co.uk today.

Its quite common for other domainers to reach out to the tag holder and ask them to buy it / renew it before it drops... this could have happened here or Chris might have not realised it was dropping and then quickly renewed to stop it dropping it just so happens they got lucky and it had not already dropped

Wtf Nominet!?
Are we now supposed to poll for renewed domains too?
Maybe I missed this, but was fi.uk unrenewed then suspended before it dropped?
Every other one of the 'suspicious' last minute renewals did this before dropping – an expedited but expected cycle.
Btw, great catch @Darren

Reminds me of the good old suspended before renewal hunt from years ago.

I partook in that 2013-14*

Researched and reported a lot of dissolved companies, not many people were on the ball around that time, seemed to be going well under the radar

To begin with it only me, jsmith and poller tags

I got jolt, unite, accuracy, handsome, hail, integra, lots of good names

After a while though more people noticed including Denys who started getting all the good ones i'd reported like learn.co.uk, that stung

Then finally Nominet closed that door.

Again interesting. Were your valuation to be correct and I have no doubt it is it would also require the COVID situation to be ongoing. The domain wouldn't have anything like [high], xx,xxx value if the situation was only expected to be temporary.

I wouldn't be surprised at all.
They haven't done anything about other suspicious last minute renewals from Sep:
ha.uk
shoes.uk
summit.uk
masks.uk
hunter.uk
parkinson.uk
hub.uk
taxes.uk

All of these are pointing to the same type of ad site. The domain I was looking for (Andysworld.uk) is pointing to the same are of ad site and renewed before the renewal date. Hardly convinced it's a premium site!

Nominet said it was a last minute renewal. I remain unconvinced. Interesting that only fasthosts seem to be not dropping.

Other hosted sites all seem to mostly drop without renewal

It's very odd (and annoying)
