There is a warning, as part of Get Safe Online Week, that smartphone users could be at risk from fake applications that have been designed by fraudsters to generate cash from premium text messages.
The so-called ‘Trojan apps’ appear to be genuine software but are actually racking up income for criminals by sending messages to premium rate numbers, which are then charged to the user’s bill.
