I would appreciate your thought on whether it has any value, either to develop an affiliate type site on, or to sell on to an end user.

I think resale value would now be very modest if any, now that Google has turned down Exact Match Domain boost. Put it up for offers to find out value.

There may be some value in developing, it all depends on the size of the rental market. See this basic holiday cottage site for two potential affiliate programmes.
