The open rights group, panellist at latest IGF meeting which is critical of Nominet's .uk proposal see
https://www.openrightsgroup.org/ourwork/reports/response-to-nominets-second-.uk-consultation
has just launched a legal fight to the Uk government on surveillance of our data https://www.privacynotprism.org.uk/
I have been sceptical of legal action against Nominet but after seeing the article on http://www.webmastering.co.uk/domain-names/ico-warns-nominet-of-misdirected-email-danger-they-should-know-theyre-the-regulator/ which may mean enormous fines to Nominet and this action, I'm starting to wonder if Nominet's actions may result in escalation.
Sadly it may be only when others can see the chaos caused by .uk if done in the way it is proposed, that if such action would be taken, it would be too late to reverse the problems.
