We all have come across some real dogs of names out there, okay many are spelling mistakes, but some names really leave me wondering.
Today i came across this easily-remembered beauty

There are long-tail domain names and loooong-tail domain names, but I think this one takes the biscuit.

Domains like that used to work 10 years ago. I had one top of google that had 7 hyphens ranking for all sorts of top keywords in the niche I was targeting it.

You used to be able to rank top of Yahoo by starting your site with an A and appeared top of the directory listing by starting your title with an exclamation mark (!) - how SEO has changed :)

Great domains yesterday become shit domains tomorrow.

Wow, that takes me back. In the earliest days I believe the Yahoo email to say that you had been accepted to the directory was signed by Jerry Yang himself - though that may be a false memory 18 years later :)

The Yahoo directory submission was the first link I ever purchased when starting a site. It was expensive for the express review but it was guaranteed traffic and good traffic at that.

Back in the good old days, it was free and permanent. Still got quite a few sites listed there, can't remember the last time it's sent over any meaningful traffic though.

(Added: Yahoo Directory brought 5,392 visits to my busiest site since 17 July 2009, the day I installed Google Analytics, out of 7,211,774 total visitors. So it was "nice to have" but had already lost its lustre sometime well before then)
