I've had a few minisites for a couple of years now. Some have done well and some have done almost nothing in terms of revenue.

So my question is,

when and how do you decide that under performing sites are not worth spending any more time or money on and should be dropped.

Has anyone turned a site around on a last ditch attempt before dropping it, or sold it on cheap to someone who's flipped it?

Have you managed to rank the site well?

Personally once I've built a site I just leave it there until I have time to update it, as long as the domain is half decent. It's only when the domain is rubbish that I might drop it.

I don't have a particular site in mind but I do have a couple of sites which aren't doing anything.

www.musclebooks.co.uk was one of my first attempts in affiliates before I learnt the importance of original content.

www.cosmeticstudio.co.uk doesn't do anything but I think there's just too much competition for it, it's not niche enough.

I suppose I have to decide whether to spend some time on re-developng them or dropping them an trying a different subject matter.

I dont care too much for Muscle Books but the Cosmetic site is attractive enough.

If the sites are covering their renewal fees, then keep them.

With regards to perhaps why they are not doing so well, I would invest in some unique content to help improve their placing in Google et al.

I guess the rule would be if it's not making the domain renewal fee and you think it could never be made to work / you'll never get round to making it work, you should drop it.
