its anonymous don't worry. Vote with your heart - be objective - imagine you don't own any .uk's

Can we assume usage will be restricted to their extension or are you talking about an open free for all because each way changes my view.

Edit: I chose both options :)

yeah a free for all - not interested in who owns what - does the punter care who owns what anyway?

I was more thinking would .movie be restricted to movie/media related, .art to arty sites, kinda like how .org/me.uk was intended for non-prof/personal.

No I want you think long term - skinner.movie

when the top stuff all gone and its finally opened up so joe bloggs can reg what he like: skinners.shop - gota ring to it!

I liked shop, its about as much call to action as you can get, info always kinda made me thinking like a library, somewhere to get info not buy something.

If I had to choose one of the others I'd go .home as you can brand it as the home of music/art etc.

Can you add a "none of the above" vote option?

Don't think I've ever typed in one of those extensions so IMO you are better off with a lesser or made up brand name .co.uk or .COM

Having a name like music.shop or sports.shop or chocolate.shop would be very cool so I've chosen .shop. :D

There like “Would sir like to choose method of execution? lethal injection or gassed to death”

I ‘ve seen more “business” use biz not that I suspect they pay much for them just the fact there often free to reg more domainers touting around ,info more than likely because there often less than a pound to reg.

you're all missing the point..

Put aside your utopian .co.uk vision and consider the future 10 years from now... the potential..?

Surprised I'm the only one to vote for .music so far... :)

Do you see names being that important 10 years from now then ?

Dominance of “g” them showing you what they want or The mass gathering of information when you start going down the goggles route everything you see, watch logged etc A result based on a multitude of personal gathered information much more scientific than a random search result today? both make names extension etc as pretty much irrelevant you’ll see something blink once it will show you top ten items set by you criteria e.g price, delivery time etc would you even need to know what the web address is ?

probably - it doesn't quite work on the side of a transit van:

'go to google and search for joe bloggs plumbing services bournemouth'

or

www-joebloggsplumbing.co.uk

Yes you can type names straight into address bar but people are lazy not many do it now will more do it in 10 years time?
A name was originally there to identify you, your product service etc they simply don’t varied reasons domainers, companies choose brand “g” already giving emds a kick not using "name" as a reference what purpose do they serve that’s not be served better by other means.

Smart phones goggles etc will have basic visual audio recognition facilities you either point it at the item or say the word e.g. You say or it captures image of a tap gives you the option to buy, repair, replace etc show result based on that?

They’ll know you’re spending buying patterns, salary, postcode etc or your pre entered preferences and show results based upon those as Company numbers etc with goggles all done with just eye movements. Interaction with poster TV movies everything you see they can show and source in an instant.

The opportunities for the likes of g to just have paid results you’ll literally be just seeing, saying, calling you certainly don’t need a domain name in that sense Even taking your plumber example just look at how few have domain on g local etc just there company name and number etc?

Add NFC type technologies with brands just using dots tags etc in packaging showing new lines taking you too there product automatically re ordering online just by gathering information you see whilst walking around? Names will still be around but in a very different way than they are now?

this statement is slightly contradictory, as everything you have said previously points to the fact you basically believe domains will not be needed in the future.

So if they are going to be around in a very different way, what is that way

Depends what you consider a domain names role? Do many now have any relevance to the information product etc? Set aside the difference between present reactive searches future anticipatory ones the way we search less keyboard input more visual or audio.

Think of names becoming like 45 vinyl records still sold used but not necessarily commercially viable or needed more of a relic of a bygone age a curiosity possibly even a vanity?
Just wondering how you see a name having a role, what’s giving them more power in future years,
