Will the free domain transfers available to most from the 6th March have a positive effect on sales at the bottom end of the market.

It certainly won't do any harm. Long overdue, but welcome nevertheless.

It should help with lower end sales like in the bargain basement, you might see a cheap name which you could use, but are put off by the fact that there's a £12 transfer fee. If there's no transfer fee, you might then buy the name and another one with what you would have spent on the transfer fee.

I think the provable impending arrival of .uk will do a lot more to help than the free transfers will (assuming what's being sold is entitled to the .uk, of course)

Well hopefully something kicks the reseller market into action soon. Backlink domains are selling cant remember the last time I had an EMD sale though.

Doesn't the free transfer only apply to accredited tags? Most tag holders on here have lots in their own name and nominet will block its accreditation maybe?

So when you have got a new tag or one with hardly any of your own domains on, sorted your new terms and conditions and got public liability insurance you can get the odd free transfer.

Self managed tag holders also get free transfers (C.4 of the revised Registrar Agreement)

For me, only for sales on here, so bargain basement sales may be better.

End user always have it included to save the hassle of explaining it all to the buyer.
