The .wed TLD could end up getting divorced from ICANN.

As of today the TLD appears to have around 42 active registrations. You don’t need to be a genius to realise that there is no way anyone can possibly make a viable business with that small a volume of registrations.

Who could have foreseen such an unusual occurrence.... ? Still a lot of people paying their 100k thinking they would fleece consumers are now losing it all. Who is the winner? Nominet may be run by corrupt thieves and think we're stupid but they have *nothing* on these big boys.

Nominet's stable are hardly galloping. At least 10 of the new extensions where they run the backend services have registrant numbers below 3000 i.e. .horse is currently about 2200 about half of its high point in Dec 2015.

The winners are ICANN, backend registry services, and new gTLD registries that have lots of brand protection registrations.

New domain extensions are a PIA for registrars. Consumers are unaware and don't care.

Didn't know Nominet was the backend for so many new TLDs. The most profitable for Nominet must be .blog and .london.
