Yet they call themselves "Z.Com Trade", and operate on the URL trade.z.com. Weird, incredible domain but they don't seem to have the conviction to use it.
 
The problem with a single letter is that it is very difficult to provoke any emotional response from the name, which means people don't remember it well.

Is that really what you took away from the Overstock debacle?

The real issue was that they had O.co not O.com - that bolded letter made all the difference in the world. Indeed, their own President said:

customers responded well to the O.co advertising, but after watching the spots, "a good portion" of those who sought out the website went to O.com, instead of O.co.

The CEO Patrick Byrne was even blunter:

we actually had nice adoption from the beginning of last year, gradually people shifting to O.co and then we got into the Christmas season and it worked terribly. For people who were not familiar with us, there was a tremendous amount of traffic diverting to O.com, and we figured it was about 8 out of 13 people who were trying to visit us through O.co, 8 were typing O.com.

I just think Overstock.com is better than either o.co or o.com. More of a connection for branding.
 
ao.com is memorable, but I agree, z.com is a struggle and o.co is a nightmare.
