Small update - we just sold one of these for low $x,xxx via BIN on afternic. Also had a bit of interest on a second but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
So yes, harder to shift, but there is value to the right person. Probably helps that there are a couple of them ranking quite well at...
On domainlore, ends on thursday: https://domainlore.uk/budgerigars.co.uk
Nice little name for a niche site. Has links from the telegraph and a bunch of pet sites.
I have no idea what it would go for, that's my point. Recently domains, especially ones that are gambling domains with legitimate links, have been going for silly money at auction - prices I would never ask for in a direct deal. So I was more interested in rolling the dice on an auction.
That's good to hear. Of course the issue with a new auction platform is that it needs the right audience (we all saw domains sitting unsold on flip), but if it could get some traction that would be fantastic to hear.
Thanks.. I might send it over, tbh I may keep it. I was more interested in an auction because for the price discovery element. Ie: I wasn't really looking for a direct sale.
I'm specifically looking for auction platforms for this. The prices of seo domains are all over the place at the moment so I'd prefer a quick flip using an auction for price discovery rather than pricing it myself.
I'm aware this is mainly a UK forum, but wondered if anyone had any ideas of the best place to auction non-UK domains that would get noticed by the big buyers we're currently seeing on DL and UKB. Ie: I'm not just after the best general place to auction domains, I'm after the ones that are the...
Yeah it used to happen for us every year like clockwork, not had one in a few years though...
You don't even need to do anything with it, it's all on their end.
That's actually really handy. Any chance of having an export function? It would be good to be able to easily filter by those that have links so they can be cross checked against ahrefs data using the batch analysis report.
Also the ability to filter by values as well would be good - eg: minimum...
If you're looking at the recent big sales at auction for these kinds of domains, it's purely because of their links. The domain itself was largely irrelevant.
Just make sure you're comparing apples to apples and not zebras to houses.
Yeah I was starting to get that impression. Who's the registrar? Just on the off chance that someone here has done something similar with them and might be able to give some more info.
Just off the top of my head from things I've done in the past, I'm pretty sure godaddy don't notify.
Yeah, it's possible they could issue a transfer away notice - I take it that means it's sitting in someone elses registrar account?
At the end of the day though if you control the nom account and change the tag, there's nothing the old registrar can do because the domain would be off their tag...
If you want to reclaim control then change the tag in your nominet account to a new registrar that you do have access to.
Then delete the nameservers (or change them to whatever you want).
It will cost you £12 but sounds like it would save a potential headache.
