    Exactly how I would do it IMO... e.g. mydomain.com/ is the english site and mydomain.com/fr/ is the french site. Or even fr.mydomain.com.... You could then even use a little js or php to find the country from where the visitor is residing and send them to the "site" which is relevant to them.
