Hi Guys

I used a draft folder on a domain to create a draft version of a website. I didn't link to any of the pages in this folder, but Google has managed to index some of them, which I didn't want. I thought if you didn't link to a page, it couldn't get indexed, so how did this happen?

Thanks

Have you done any of the following?

Adsense code
Analytics code
Posted on wordpress
Posted content that links out causing a pingback from destination
Visited site through Chrome
Visted site through browser with Google toolbar

All of those can cause a site/folder to get indexed.

If you're building something you don't want Mr Google to see then always set up a robots.txt file.

Google is the all seeing and even without noticing, they can index your pages, so covering your back is always a good idea.
