just doing a random check on domains with 123reg, already have found 4 that come up
example
Firefox can't find the server at loan-credit.co.uk.
spent last 3 days trying to have first 2 sorted....all domains were first reg with 123 in 2006 , just noticed quite afew are reg with nominet but no sever
anyone else similar problems, info appreciated...zee

yes all domains with 123reg are not resolving. their support site is down too. what plonkers this lot are.

123 oh dear

these boys really are the cheap plastic bag carrying the champagne bottle...oh its smashed again

time to reg Muppets-321.co.uk

Jesus

Now it looks like everything's gone to pot, none of the sites using their nameservers are resolving, and even their own website is unavailable, as is pipexgroup.com and probably others!

EDIT: webfusion.co.uk also seems out of action.

Bunch of arse.

looking from outside the uk

In Austrlaia at present and still seeing many sites down

Bulk Tag change.

I can't take any more of 123-reg.

Will Nominet do a bulk Tag change?

transfer away

yes still down; Im transferring to Streamline asap

What will happen first ...Scotland Qualify fro Major Tournament or 123-reg come back on line ....

i don't see how both nameservers are down at the same time.

surely they host them on different networks so that if one is down the other is available... surely?

Nope they make it as difficult as f***ing possible to do anything in bulk, I have signed up to heart internet and intend to move all my names, WHEN THE 123-REG SITE IS F***ING WORKING!

Likewise, myself and our company's domains will begin the process on Monday, as long as their site is up by then.

Does anyone know of a host that offers a reasonable level of redundancy when it comes to DNS/nameserver issues?

i signed up to https://www.nettica.com/ earlier. 50 USD a year for dns control for 100 domains. moved over the important ones earlier. will see how long this fuck up goes on for before deciding on the others but this has cost me a lot of money in lost sales and wasted PPC so i'm not happy.

I have bulk dns with Heart Internet,

I can't begin to say how good heart is and well priced compared to the others.

I've got the reseller package and it have everything I need.

I'd love to see 123-reg's domain bank after this one. It must be like a domain registry version of northern rock.

can you use their bulk dns without moving the domains there?

I have had an in-depth chat with Heart this afternoon, my only concern is that they too have a singel point of failure, their DNS services and web hosting are all in the same datacentre, so if connection to or within the centre goes down, everything will be offline, similar to 123reg this weekend. Also, the account passwords are currently stored in plain text, just like the Fasthosts ones were when they were hacked. I was told this was being resolved in the next couple of weeks though.

Anyway, we will probably move to Heart, but I am also looking with interest into the Secondary DNS services provided by Nettica in the above link. If anyone knows of anything similar, I would be happy to hear of it.

Does anyone know another registrar that allows decent DNS control, specifically changes to 'A' records on the main domain and subdomains? This issue is causing me some real problems.

Appreciated, Grant
