I have a couple .COMs registered through 123-reg, that are due for renewal. 123-Reg use TUCOWS Inc to register .COMs.

Example: quadricopters.com

I have noticed that as soon as it gets past renewal, the nameservers are changed (without any notification to me) to:
Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.RENEWYOURNAME.NET
NS2.RENEWYOURNAME.NET
and my website disappears in place of their crappy parking pages.

Not good for SEO or Google placement!

So if you have any .COMs with 123-reg, make sure you renew them on time if you want to keep them.

Thanks for the heads up ;)

Wa**er 123-reg.co.uk again

Only got about 3 domains left with them, I don't like 'em !

Yes Domain monster do that with .co.uk's too last time that happened to me.

Must be a .com thing with 123-reg asa few .co.uk's are past the date and are still up and running.

Don't do themselves any favours doing that at all.

123-reg.co.uk - Transfer your domains out.

Hi Alan,
I would suggest you transfer your names out right away, loads of people are transferring there .co.uk's out of 123-reg.co.uk as we speak to Daily.co.uk & heartinternet, I've spoke to a few member on here over the past week which have transfer approx 2,000 so far...

plus you're mad to be paying £10 per year for a .com via 123-reg, especially when many other companies are selling them at half the price, in fact I'm evening offering better pricing at www.Regme.com for $9.95 with a much larger company / support team backing it...

move, move, move Mr S

Just noticed the price of .org.uk/.me.uk with 123-Reg has gone up to £3.29/year for single purchases. Wonder how they are justifying increasing the price of those and not .co.uk?

Had enough of them now, will be moving all my domains away.

123-REG.co.uk - Moving Domain Names away to new company

Had enough of them now, will be moving all my domains away.

Good move, many more will be following shortly I'm sure - I bet Daily.co.uk / HeartInternet.co.uk and so on are loving the transfers in from 123-reg customers who are not happy with their service...

Cheers for the recommendations of Daily.co.uk, will use them until I apply for a TAG. Their bulk transfer in option just made everything extremely easy... :D

Use name.com for your .com domains, they have good prices, excellent customer service, monthly special offers and they notify you when your domains are about to expire.

Plus... They offer domain catching

TAG is always the best route to go, Daily.co.uk is a great option while you wait though, best of luck with the transfer in.

I transfered out ages ago, only got 3 because they accept Paypal which by the way takes days to a week to register domains at 123-reg using Paypal :-x

Anyway I can say that Domain monster transfer ins were dead easy and the prices are good :)

And how can you charge more on .org.uk and .me.uk compared to .co.uk

What a joke :!:

123-reg and paypal delays

Hey there, not had any general issues with 123-reg and paypal domain registrations, though if you do get issues, email me directly, [email protected], and I can check that out for you.

Just placed a test domain order from our site and done within a few minutes, live on the web.

Richard.

Never had any issues with 123, the times i have had to open a support ticket it's been dealt with swiftly (within 2 hrs) and correct first time.

I shall continue to use em.

One of the main issues for me was the fact that dropped domains didn't get deleted from the control panel. If you have a domain caught which you want to transfer into your 123-Reg account (and it was with them before) then it won't let you as it keeps it in the previous owners account as renewed.

Considering many dropping domains are on their tag, it's very annoying having to submit a support ticket each time to get it resolved. Surely the control panel should syncronise with Nominet :?

Tag has been applied for and all domains are now in Daily until that's ready, no problems at all.

Tucows not 123-reg

Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.RENEWYOURNAME.NET
NS2.RENEWYOURNAME.NET

That is the Tucows expired domains program and Heart & Daily are also Tucows Resellers.

Transfer your domains to Daily.co.uk or HeartInternet.co.uk (Great Service)

The great thing about www.Daily.co.uk & www.heartinternet.co.uk is they both have far far superior customer service over that of 123-REG, even though they are smaller companies they go that extra mile to retain your custom, plus anyone who uses daily or heartinternet will also tell you how much better their control panels are over 123's.

It appears loads of people are transferring their names out of 123-REG left right and centre due to various issues e.g.

* Poor customer service.
* Domains still showing in your account when you change tags.
* Dated control panel which doesn't allow you to properly manage your domains e.g bulk edit etc
* Credit cards being re-billed even if you remove credit card details.

The list goes on...

based on conversations with various acorn members, I'd take a guess and say over 10,000 names have been transferred out of 123-reg over the past 2 months, counting 3 people alone which i personally know its been over 6,000...

Andy, If you're right about both Daily & Heart being Tucows Resellers, then that's even funnier as they are still offering better pricing on .com's over 123-REG... not forgetting a better customer experience too.

People are fed-up of 123-REG hence looking for alternative solutions e.g. own tag or other registrars - Andy I guess that's why you use your own registration company " whois-register.com " to reg your .com's, just like i use > www.regme.com - makes sense as we both offer better pricing, more domain tools for bulk editing, plus have the support of a larger company if need be.

I feel some of the smaller registrars really do go out their way to make sure you're happy with the service they are offering, these little touches go along way with me, never under estimate the power of the smaller players ;)

It wouldn't surprise me if in time you saw a group of acorn members join hands to create their own registrar, when you look at how many domains some of the members here hold, and the experience they have within the industry, it could make for an interesting company I'm sure...

Barry -> Hope you tried to buy some shares in Daily/Heart before getting so many peoples domains transferred there, lol :p

Daily.co.uk & HeartInternet.co.uk

Barry -> Hope you tried to buy some shares in Daily/Heart before getting so many peoples domains transferred there, lol :p

lol, i should have thought about, best i get on the phone to Abby right away and ask for my commission.

When companies like Daily.co.uk & HeartInternet.co.uk offer good all-round services i think it sells its self, but if I can help the cause and show other domainers other options too, then coolio.

Both companies just seem more personal and go that extra mile if that makes sense, always worth a try.

I'm transferring all remaining domains I have out of my 123-reg.com as we speak, just a pain when you've changed the tag already on 1,000 plus domains, yet they still show in your account... so I'm now having to filter which ones I've already moved, actually time to login to nominet and sort it out that way (silly me)

Alternatively if the great 123-reg support team wants to do a tag change on all the domains still in my account then that would be great, oooh wait their i requested that over two months ago, my bad!

One of our domains disappeared from our 123 control panel during it's suspension period.

On calling 123 support a lady told us that we had to pay to get it back. She had the nominet rules read to her yet she insisted after speaking to her colleagues that she was right and we could not have it back in our account unless we paid.

20 minutes later and only as we were so insistent she put us on to a manager. Who put it back in our account so we could change the tag.

So unless the manager is your mate I would say the support team that day were awful putting it mildly.
