I had a 4.66% conversion rate for the last 10 days with Amazon. What's your conversion rate promoting products at Amazon?

I also built 2 new niche sites: standing desk and military fictions. I was planning to creating a book club script so I can build a lot of niche book club sites very quickly. However, I'm stuck with wordpress so far. It's not bad but it requires a lot of man hours. Maybe an automatic plug-in that pulls product information by the API they created for the affiliates.

I am sometimes very surprised when I have a conversion rate on one of my sites at 200+%. Usually this is a lower traffic site and when a few visitors buy multiple items.

I've a few different websites some focus on books, one of them focuses on boxers - and I have a bunch of randoms. It isn't unusual for the conversion rate to be all over the place on any given day (0%, 40%, 100+%).

I know this is a plug but it might be useful for people who want to make money from a book search widget without having to code... basically I developed a widget that you can add your amazon code to, stick it on your site and when people search and buy books, you'll earn part of the commissions.

More info here:

The code is available in HTML, iFrame, PHP

Also a choice of colours:

I make part of the commission. On the landing page (after a search) if the person clicks 'buy' on any book then the Associate ID for the originating website will be used, and if the searcher navigates to other products while on my site they may click a link with my associate ID.

If the user searches, clicks 'buy', and then navigates around Amazon's site buying multiple items, the originating website will receive commissions for everything.

In the low volumes click through rates are all over the place. Here's an example of one of my sites with a bit more volume.

Established site... month to date

Ordered items: 22
Clicks: 878
