If I accidentally clicked on a dodgy zip that was emailed to me - is there any way of seeing what it did or any damage (keyloggers etc)?

I'm not sure if it's safer that I'm on a Mac - help appreciated...

download ClamXav it's a useful (free) malware scanner for Macs.

try malware bytes too.. and scan with your anti virus program etc.

thanks for the software tips - I'm installing now.

Is there anyway to know which process happened or if the code went anywhere to know definitively - maybe through the logs? Not sure how confident I should be if the software says all ok?

It depends on what happened when you clicked it. Some email clients let you look inside the zip without local extraction. However if you downloaded the zip and extracted it you better run checks, although your firewall should have stopped most auto-executable files (I would have thought).

Thanks Aegean - I think it's safe but can't believe I clicked on it (was inside thunderbird). Thanks again for help.

i nearly clicked one the other day! was v convincing and highly relevant to me! (and i'm ultra wary)
