Has anyone invested money via Seedrs?
What if the owners never sell or float the business in my lifetime? How would I exit? My concern is that it's a very illiquid.
Yes, lots - I've been active there since the start.
It is very illiquid and you need a long term outlook. Realistically most will fail - it's important to build a diverse portfolio.
If they never sell or float, you will not be able to sell your shares other than by private negotiation. However if a company is profitable and not reinvesting for growth, you would earn dividends at the same rate as all other shareholders.
Most of their offerings are tech companies and the goal tends to be acquisition or float. Personally, I am looking for around 10% of my investments to make it, but the return on them will pay for the faliures as well as a good profit (in theory

. It's also good fun and I'm learning a lot from being involved.
Yes, you can expect dilution, but all Seedrs investments carry pre-emption rights which you can exercise to maintain your holding if you want. Dilution typically comes when companies raise money at a higher valuation and it's rarely a bad thing - I'd always rather own slightly less of a company that is now worth more and has a fresh injection of cash...
The beauty of Seedrs is that they negotiate the same terms for everyone, whether you have £10 or £100,000 invested. Other sites tend to offer B shares which offer very little protection.
Also the tax advantages are great - 50% relief on SEIS and 30% on EIS.
