OK, another weekend reading and learning, but still very new to this Domain thing.

I have a few questions arising that I would appreciate guidance on - and benefit of others experience.

Q1 - If the opportunity of buying both the .com and the .co.uk of a name arises - would you always recommend buying both ?

Q2. - Would you then try to sell them as a pair ?

Q3. - What are the views on use of numbers instead of words in Domain name e.g.: 'AAA2BBB' rather than 'AAAtoBBB' or even 'AAAtwoBBB'

Thanks in advance

Regards

John

Q1 Yes if you are confident you have picked good domains then it is always good to have both

Q2 Yes - Brand protection - by purchasing both domains the competition or anyone else, cannot use the other domain

Q3 I don't like them. Name me three top companies using a number in the company address. Numbers just don't appear to be as professional, people do not search for numbers keyword in Google.

I agree that numbers don't look good, but I like to argue so I'll take you up on your bet by saying 1&1, 123-Reg, Site5 and UK2 all spring to mind. Of course, that is dependent on what you mean by 'top'...but they are all a bit more than a start up ;)

Thanks to everybody for quick replies.

On Q1 & Q2 I take the rationale completely - Thanks, that is how I will proceed.

On Q3 - I must admit I do not normaly like site names with numbers in (in place of words) - rather than the use of Numbers in the context of the brand name. I think the 'brand' names with numbers, like 123 etc are more acceptable, because it is not a 'mis-use' of English.

The specific example I was thinking of was between the use of 'DualXXXX' or '2XXXX' for a product type.

I think I prefer the 'dualxxxx' name - but the product name starts with a 'T' and the lure of 'alliteration' in the name i.e. '2TTTT' does have some resonance.

More research required to see how manufacturers/suppliers refer to the product in their material, I think.

Thanks again

John
