Amos.uk is up for auction at DomainLore. You can bid for it here.

There are over 10,000 people in the UK called Amos (forebears.io) – about 90% of them surnames. More than 500 UK companies in the UK have Amos in their name (companycheck.co.uk).

But Amos.uk is also perfect as a short, very memorable, easy-to-pronounce acronym.

A.M.O.S. are 4 very frequently used letters, well positioned to fit the titles of many organisations. For instance:
  • The A at the start fits the many organisations whose name begins with “Associated”, “Approved”, “Authorised”, “Amalgamated”, etc.

  • M is a very widely-used letter. “Market” (and associated words like “Marketing” and “Marketplace”) and “Members” immediately spring to mind. There are thousands of others of course.

  • The O, as a third letter, is perfectly placed for the many organisations called “Something Something OF Somewhere” (or “Something Something OF Somethings).

  • The S, for the final word, could stand for “Society”, “Specialists”, “Services” or (perhaps a little less common) “Syndicate”.

Amos.uk has practically a full year left to run, expiring on 3 September 2021. If you have your own Nominet tag, then I can release it to your tag in the usual way so that there is no Nominet transfer fee.

Here’s the auction page again.

Thanks

Richard

Since posting my message above, I've noticed that Estibot values Amos.uk at $8,600.

Given that Estibot places drastically lower values on .uk domains than on their .co.uk counterparts (they value Amos.co.uk at $38,000!), even their $8,600 for Amos.uk may well turn out to be seriously on the low side as ".uk" domains start to come into their own.

That said, the real strength of "Amos.uk" (whether for use as someone's name or an acronym) lies in the considerations outlined in my post above.

Auction ends tomorrow – less than a day to go now. Here's the link if you want to place a bid.
