I just thought everyone should be aware that Jarrod (http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/members/jarrod.html) has done the dirty and backed out of an agreed sale on prepaidcreditcards.co.uk via this thread

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/fixed...re-loans-slrcameras-fostering.html#post340577

Pretty much the same as Namehunter did in this thread.

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/domain-name-offers-invited/91039-shorttermloans-shorttermloan.html

I had an agreement with Jarrod to buy prepaidcreditcards.co.uk and fostering.co.uk for a fixed price that we both agreed on via PM

I have been wating for him to invoice me for the last few hours (despite chasing him a couple of times) and he has just pm'd to say he has had a higher offer from someone else so has sold it to them and on checking the whois the name has been transferred.

Think its about time admin started giving bans when people do this.

6 years reputation down the pan for a few xtra £££ :(

Wow ! I was stunned and shocked at the shorttermloans thread, and to have 2 in a few days is shit !

I am even more shocked that it was Jarrod as I thought higher of him, than to do something like this - especially as he is a respected member with 6 years under his belt !

Acorn certainly isn't the place it used to be, and only a matter of time before everyone leaves for one reason or another :(

I hope that it is all a misunderstanding simply because Jarrod has been here so long.

If it isn't I hope that whoever offered to buy the names after Rich is now reconsidering.

Maybe he will post here and clear things up or offer some kind of explanation. It's always a shame when things like this happen.

Gets my vote - Along with all open threads from that member being deleted or locked.

Got no time for people welshing on agreements.

Annoys me when I see this, I have sold loads of domains in the past where I have recieved higher offers between agreeing a sale and transfering the domain.

My ignore list is getting rather big, soon I won't have any further members to do business with.

Keep Your Word

This is the ONLY right way in business. Sad, very sad, almost one a day now.

Cut me some slack please Rich! It wasn't a concrete deal. If it was a "SOLD" at BIN or invoice had been issued etc then it would have been concrete and 100% I would have honoured that.

I can't believe how fast you've swung the handbag. You clearly enjoy a public stoning! :p

If you agreed on a price via pm you should honour it.

Sorry, but if you agree a price by PM (irrelevant of whether it's at the BIN or not) you can't say it's fine to sell it to someone else simply because you hadn't issued the invoice.

Jarrod why don't you simply explain your side of the story so people can make their own mind up......

Hi Jarrod,

Would you be any different if the roles were reversed?

It was a done deal, we agreed a price, you asked how soon i could pay, i said as soon as I receive your bank details or an invoice, you said ok.

Can have admin post the pm's here if you want

Rich

Everyone should be allowed to learn from their mistakes. It was bad form of Jarrod to do that with an agreed deal and if he can accept that and appreciate it's not how respected businesses operate then maybe this affair can be put to bed. Reputation may have to be rebuilt slightly and trust too but it would be a shame to see an established member hung drawn and quartered for a first offense.

Rich I appreciate your frustration, we're all human, we sometimes make mistakes mate.

Greed is not a mistake - it is a trait

Agreed - banning is deserved for this.

Yep. In an industry where participants rarely meet or even interact, except electronically, and where 4-, 5-, 6-figure deals are done on a handshake, trust isn't optional - it's EVERYTHING. You're only as good as your word, after all...

namehunter hasn't even been banned yet so don't hold your breath

It's a shame to see this happen twice in a week, I agreed a sale at £500 for a name last month, before payment had been made I had an offer of £2000. Obviously I sold for £500 as it was agreed first.

Very noble and I agree with what you did ... but surely there was an opportunity to sell at the £2000 price and split the difference with the first buyer. Obviously you'd need their approval first, but they'd make a no risk profit of £750 for doing nowt and handing over no money.
