'Make Money Online - Online Affiliate Guide: Building An Online Cash Cow'

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1477476938/?tag=acorn06-21

I'm just looking for something to read, this looks like it has some substance, even if it is a bit dated (despite the cheesy sounding title)? I'm not interested in a generic affiliate book telling you to make loads of thin sites and all the usual rubbish, I'm more after the ways people have built up and monetised a single, strong branded site. Even if you haven't read this, if there's any other good, similar books people could recommend, that would be great! Especially if they're a bit more recent...

I would more read some of the SEO forums, there was a thread with some posts by Murray recently where he linked a few forums, I'd follow that.

Ebooks go out of date so quickly and methods change rapidly, the only way to keep up is read the SEO forums.

The SEO forums on here?

TBH it's more the monetisation and growth aspect I'm interested in, I've got a small community of regular contributors on my Youtube and social media profiles and I post genuine, good content about my hobby. SEO is so fickle that I've never given it much thought, Google could just introduce another update and kill my rankings anyway.

SEO forums in general.

I think your confusing SEO as a flash in the pan thing.

SEO covers everything from image alt tags, link building, branding to a degree, without SEO your efforts will fail. You need a ROCK SOLID website with good standards, good content, etc and SEO companies specialise in this.

I get what you're saying, but I'd just call those things fundamentals of building a site these days rather than any optimization. Most things past that are just a matter of opinion, you've only got to look at how many people with authoritative sites on here get hit after an algorithm change to see how spurious SEO can be. IMO if you've got a well build site, that's genuinely well used with a strong community, the rest will take care of itself to some extent... and you're less likely to get stung by a G update.

I'm more looking for examples of people that have built a site up around a community, how they've managed all the social media side and tied it in with their site, and how they've monetised that community

It's prudent to know about SEO to learn what to avoid as much as anything.

Have you got a link to the post would be interested in taking a look.

Thanks
