Still trying to learn about these geo domains.

What kind of value might EnjoyGreece.co.uk have ?

It's priceless to me as I'm half-Greek..(well hello there ladies !)

Seriously though, any ideas ?

Steve.

Pretty good, but nowhere near as good as visitgreece.co.uk and visit-greece.co.uk which are mainstream.

But better than EnjoyTrafficJams.com, (oooh they are long aren't they ? !), so somewhere between the 2 and I'm an extremely HappyShopper.

Hey cheers Redkite. What's your tourist attraction by the way ?

Does it have a turnstyle and a chipvan ?

My mum once got stuck in one of those (the turnstyle not the chipvan - though at times we did wonder ! ) and they had to call a man out with a wrench.

All the best.

Steve.

Stevie,
Not a turnstyle [ you mean turnstile, I presume] and a chip van !!

I have a 165 acre farm park called Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, Gwbert , Cardigan, West Wales [ cardiganisland.com] . The farm park is about 1.5 miles long, along our cliffs.
We have built a 92 ft x 78 ft visitor centre with five 12 ftx 5ft windows of Arctic Blue double glazed glass.
We have a £4000 work top of polished Italian granite as a counter ; stained glass leaded windows in the toilets , depicting leaping dolphins and an American ash balustrade. It cost us £350,000 to build, 5 years ago. We also built a 0.75 miles road into the farm park at a cost of £75000.
A huge paved patio, 170 feet by 22 feet wraps around the building to take advantage of some of the best scenery in Europe.
People come mainly to view Atlantic Grey Seals and Bottlenose dolphins in the wild from our safely fenced cliffs. We also have a wallaby, llama, emus, rhea, Kune Kune pigs and other farm animals.

We also have interactive scientific exhibits from Techniquest of Cardiff.

Not exactly a chip van !!!! We obviously don't inhabit your world.

Hey I wasn't having a go. I was just asking. You need to lighten up. You said you had a tourist attraction and I wondered which one, that's all.

True success is measured in coping when you have nothing, not running people down about the size of your farm, their spelling and how great your domains are.

That's how you measure the worth of a man is it ?

I wish you well my friend.

Oh and my mum did get stuck in a turnstile...Gnomeland '82. It toook em half an hour to get her out. There was a queue a mile long !!

Turnstile, turnstyle...whatever. There's a distinct lack of style around here...

Enough already..

Steve.

Ps. The farm does sound great - some fantastic animals. You need to appreciate things rather than being angry at people who you asked to comment !

Difficult to value but the domain works well and would have broad appeal so I'm sure a sale would be on the cards. Good for any travel affiliates too ...

Rgds

Thanks for that Accelerator.

I appreciate your insight. Oh, it looks like Utrecht.co.uk fell through. We agreed a price but then the trail went cold...

Oh well, the place is beginning to grow on me anyway.

They have a very nice train station and even a canal !.........

I might have to take rekite's lead and dig a couple of hyphens and a 'visit' out of the cupboard, I'm sure there's huge scope for tourist potential given time.

Hmmm....

Thanks again,

Steve.

Stevie,
You castigate me......but it was you who made the sarcastic comment about my attraction when you asked if I had a "chipvan".

This site is amazing !! So many little cliques ,with mates assisting each other !!
According to Accelerator, the prefix "enjoy" is good, yet the globally important "visit" is not!!

Sure, England has EnjoyEngland, but it is not a mainstream tourism prefix. Only a few official sites or non-official tourism sites have adopted it.

Meanwhile, although the "visit" prefix is largely adopted by governments, states , cities and county councils to market their official tourism sites..............the official bodies have no God-given right to own them.......hence their strength!! Anyone can use them and cash in on the fact that official sites use them on a large scale globally.
For example visitdevon.com is the private enterprise Creally Leisure Park, if I recall correctly, whilst neighbouring Cornwall County Council uses visitcornwall.com as the official Cornish site......visited by MILLIONS. Therefore, if people do not see the significance and importance of "visit" prefixes , I am amazed !!

Creally must pick up a load of traffic for people just entering visitdevon.....THINKING it leads to the official Devon site.

Not everyone is going to use a search engine for Devon . A large percentage will merely type visitdevon.com.

How can anyone with a logical brain praise an "enjoy"place prefix and criticise a "visit"place one ?? It smacks of irrational bias , not logical assessment.
If "Enjoy" is good..........then it follows ...rationally...that "Visit" must be better !!

visitgreece.co.uk would be a good domain, and is fact already being used by an affiliate ...

I have nothing against the visit- prefix.

Rgds

Fair enough Redkite. I do apologise for the quip. It's clearly your pride and joy.

Cardigan Island looks an amazing place. Those animals must take some looking after. With a place like that I wouldn't give a hoot what people think about my domains ! You're very fortunate to have such stunning animals around you. Has it been going long ?

Oh well, re. visit vs. enjoy, you may have a point there too. But that's not for me to say. I just asked for an appraisal and accelarator always takes the time to give them.

So you should ask him.

Best Regards,

Steve.

Ps. You see Redkite, by the time I'd finished typing this message Accelator had already taken the time to reply. And his reply makes sense to me.

It reads well even if the enjoy keyword isn't the greatest so a sale could be on. Develop it a bit, get your reg fee back and hold on to it.

Pretty good, but nowhere near as good as visitgreece.co.uk and visit-greece.co.uk which are mainstream.

Redkite - the purpose of replying in an appraisal thread is surely to give an appraisal not to fight your own little battles, respect other people's threads please it's no wonder you got a sarcastic reply.

Accelerator,
You say you have nothing against a visit-place [hyphenated] domain [ I have visit-greece.co.uk ] and call visitgreece.co.uk a good domain......[ It is more than "good" . A friend of mine in Scotland has it!!!!]

Yet when I asked for a similar assessment of visitunitedkingdom.co.uk , I was shot down by hordes of nit-picking regular contributors to this forum and the thread was curtailed !!

Since the name of THIS country is United Kingdom........where on Earth is the LOGIC?? The logic postulated by many is falling apart!!

If Greece is GOOD..........how come United Kingdom is BAD??? Most contributors LIVE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.......not Greece!!

Answers on a postcard , please !! Euros or Sterling stamps !!

Binny,
Surely , in evaluating a domain, comparison with similar ones is a logical approach? What is the point of evaluating a domain without making such comparisons? That is how prices of other commodities are achieved.

Without comparison with similar names....one does not evaluate....... one merely guesses!!

Thanks for your thoughts Binny.

There's always so much to develop and so little time !

Cheers,

Steve.

Visitgreece.co.uk would be better; however this does not apply to Visit-Greece.co.uk as it would attract no type-in traffic.

You may point out the potential benefits of a hyphen for SERPs benefits, but in this case it is irrelevant given the phrase "Visit Greece" attracts just 590 searches a month on big G.

Given the above, EnjoyGreece is the vastly better domain given it's at least brandable, it reads well and is rememberable.

However, I would value it at no more than £200 enduser, £25/£50 reseller. Unless you get lucky.

Good luck!

Stevef1fan,
If you read this post, screw Redkite, i think he is high as a kite on a permenant basis

You enquired about is business and he disses you and puts you down

Redkite : if you get any visitors to your place i bet they don't return, your attitude stinks.

Redkite your a top business man and know everything so why come on here and stir up pointless trouble ?

Your just as welcome to use the forum as anyone else but you seriously need to wise up.

Stevef1fan : EnjoyGreece is only semi generic being that it as the word Greece in it but would need some marketing at a cost, if you worked on selling this name then you could get a fair price from an end user, the value i would put on this would be whatever the end user is willing to pay ? it would be hard to guess straight out sorry.

Charming , Doodlebug! Very nice!!
I am sure that most people .....especially elderly Londoners....would prefer to see a soaring Red Kite in the skies above them .....rather than a crashing, self-destructive doodlebug !
I objected to the offensive "chip van" remark from Stevie. I do not exactly regard that as an "enquiry" about my business. Would you? Now that he has apologised, there is no problem.
I still think that Enjoygreece as a web-site name is reasonably good, but that the "visit" pre-fix must be better because so many official sites throughout Europe........like the European Travel Commision , with visiteurope.com .....use the visitplace format.

That will eventually ......maybe ,not yet....... lead to more tourists realising the popularity of the term, and subsequently using it.

I have not put Enjoygreece "down" at all. I have drawn comparisons and given a logical opinion.
The answer is to write a Greek web-site, possibly, using the Enjoygreece term. You might get a London Greek interested, because there is an Enjoyengland site. Try emailing a London Greek community group.
There are also obvious connotations between the word "enjoy" and eating. Therefore, contact Greek restaurateurs or taverna owners and their groups.
As for ,visit-greece.co.uk ; it has link sites like visit-corfu.co.uk ,visit-zante.co.uk [or visit-zakynthos.co.uk ...same place] , visit-crete.co.uk ; visit-rhodes.co.uk etc etc.......which are all parts of Greece.

Doodlebug,
By the way , we got 27000 visitors to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park in 2007 and many visitors have returned every year [ several times per year]since we opened in 1993.Last week , some new visitors returned the following day.
Another point; it is impossible to shout in print, because the printed word ,even when written in capitals, does not ,and cannot, produce any noise. Capitals are used merely for EMPHASIS, by myself.

Hi Steve,
You are probably watching the China F1 at the moment. Apology accepted .....no problem!
You ask about the farm park.
We opened Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park on our family farm in Cardigan, West Wales in 1993. People come mainly to view the scenery and the resident population of Atlantic Grey Seals. They live in the 15 or so caves below the farm and a few more on Cardigan Island, which is 200 yards offshore. We have seen as many as 40 seals basking on the rocks at low tide, from the fenced cliffs of the farm park. Normally we would see 10 to 15 at one time....more at low tide in the summer. There are also around 200 bottlenose dolphins in Cardigan Bay. We see maybe 4 or 6 quite regularly in the summer as they come past the farm park looking for fish. They are spectacular as they leap out of the water to stun fish on the way down.
People get very excited when they come in close to our cliffs.
We also have Bruce the Wallaby ; Llinos the Llama ; a spectacularly well-endowed donkey called Dilwyn [ the only 5 legged donkey in Wales!!] ; Emus ; rhea ; kune kune pigs; Vietnamese pigs [ ex-Viet Pong ] ; sheep ; goats; Shetland and Welsh mountain ponies; cattle ; guinea pigs ; wild Soay sheep [ pain in the butt....they jump clean over fences].
We have a play area and sand pit outside and Techniquest interactive science exhibits inside , plus cafe and gift/craft shop.
We do a 7 day week from Mid March to November, without a day off.
On top of that , we have the 340 acre farm to run as well, although I rent out a fair bit of it. I used to grow 60 acres of Early Potatoes up to 1993, but they were too much of a gamble. We lost £10000 in 1993,[ and lost in 1990 and 1992] so we knocked it on the head and went into tourism." Losing money gaining knowledge!!"
I have 700 domains, mainly geo-domains. Some are built into my visit-the-world.co.uk affiliate travel complex, but some I want to sell. I write normally until 3am and sleep 5 hours a day. My next day off is November 1st.

As for Enjoygreece, I now think that the Restaurateur/taverna people might find that really useful.
