What's the best way to get a good appraisal? I want to negotiate to buy a domain but would like an idea of it's market value.
I am tempted to ask someone their thoughts but would then be trusting the person not to guzump me.

You can ask someone that you trust or you go on your own feelings and experience. These are your only options.

No one I know who could value it. Any nominations for most trustworthy qualified user on acorn?

It would depend on what your thinking of doing with the domain is it just to resale? Or planning to develop a site selling goods, information then you can use a business plan to calculate the revenue and offset the difference to advertising etc that having the generic as apposed to another would cost you and offer a % based upon it . At least that way you are paying the right amount for yourself to make a living ? the difference between reseller and end user can be quite large
