Is this a good idea?

I agree that anybody with a half decent catching script will already have this data.

However don't you think that deleting.co.uk is going to get pissed off?
These lists are an exact reproduction of the data on their site, form where I assume it was stripped.

If they find that it's being 'stolen', they might limit access and a valuable resource will be lost.

Stolen, You been taking drugs over the weekend?

Huh.. more likely deleting stole them from me :(

I've been posting lists here since well before deleting.co.uk came along, if anything I should be pissed off at the free traffic they have earnt from this site.

Since they have been around, no one looks here for my lists much so I haven't bothered doing a daily dropped list like I used to. This also means I no long get any donations for the lists, which was my major revenue stream.

As it happens no, but what's that got to do with it.

All I'm saying, is that I've got a script that's been mining deleting's database for at least a year and it comes up with a list that is 100% identical to the ones published here.

Is there a better data source that I'm missing?

Why mine Andrews site and use up all his bandwidth? thats leaching and he should be pissed with you and no one else.

Just get a zone file.

Nice one Colin, I should have known you had written a script for it :)

Sorry I got pissed :-D thought you was calling me a thief.

If you want a zone file drop me a PM.

I only have 2.5 million names in my list, but you can quite easily take a .com zone file and stick a .co.uk on the end and have 30 million +. Sure most wont be registered but you would have pretty much everything of the 5 million that are registered.

OK so everybody is using exactly the same zone file. That explains it.
Go ahead.

Yes, they would do. Cos they would all have the last zone file released ;)

Personally I don't have a half decent catching script and I find the admins list of deleted domains here really useful. I am not a big player but then I don't think thats what makes this community what it is in its entirety.......just my opinion

i agree - the basis of this forum (if you can remember back then) was freedom of information. Some people were prepared to give advice (and listen :D) which was a refreshing change to the existing closed door culture.
hopefully this distribution of knowledge will continue in all aspects of the industry. open source in programming is a big thing - and the basis of the interent itself - though i do appreicate people are here to make money

Its no different from a zone file you would use on your own server.

Format would be like so.. (you will notice im a little out of date ;) )
