Can anyone offer advice on how to get the best out of a sedo auction
any tips to promote the awareness of the auction would be appreciated and might serve to help other members in the future.

The auction is for Stairlift.net

Notify as many end users you can find that the auction is taking place, a short email or call would suffice, let them know there has been a lot of interest generated about the domain being up for grabs.

I have even seen google ppc ads that the domain sellers have set up, it actually is not a bad idea in some cases.

Unless the (potential) buyers know of sedo and use/refer to them you pretty much have to get as much visability for your domain as possible, by your own means.

Thanks really appreciate your views, thanks

I have been trying to get on the afternic forum. I have been a member there for years but never been able to navigate the site when I've wanted to use it. It's not as user friendly as acorn.
