69% voted no.

what % of people actually voted?

You could be looking at this 69% actually being @30-40% of the population, hardly a majority.

Voting should be compulsory and if say min 75% of population dont vote then we continue until they do, that way we'd stand a chance of a +50% share winning, and thats a majority.

You actually think the yes campaign stood a chance with these mumpets arranging the vote!!!

should of turned the question round, as nil attendance in the voting booth played simply into the No campaigns hands.

There was around 40% turnout for the AV vote count.

Having done quite a lot of statistics and quantitative analysis recently - you could look at it like you have mentioned above, but you could also look at the data as being 'normally distributed' and fairly representative of the population as a whole.

I'm sure those who were bothered and wanted the change would have made the extra effort to pop their 'yes' vote in. Indeed, the greater the sample size the more accurate the data would be, but I doubt even with more votes that the data would be skewed enough to result in a winning 'yes to AV'.

I'm in favour of this, pop in a fine for non-voting and that'll get a decent turnout.
