How much do you think a business might pay/month for an ad, say 260x260 on the home page of Cardiff?

Nice looking site, great work with an excellent geo, is this bespoke or available for others to use? (though I'd ask before others do!)

If I ran a hotel in Cardiff I'd love to be on the home page of the .co.uk - again though I guess it depends on who the visitors are, are they local or tourists?

It's very much at first stage - lots more work needed as it has been completely built from the ground up, and is completely bespoke.

Development and database work by SimplicityIt.

Designed by Mark Boulton Design - he's the designer behind the new interface for Drupal.

Traffic is improving, and sub categories are starting to do well in Google.

The site is interactive and CSS is unique. I think 30 $ per month is enough to make the deal final with cardiff because the site alexa is little bit higher.

Nice site Would be nice to see the Header colour brought to the menu maybe ;)

Should bring the Alexa down quite quickly you if posted on it daily.

  • Just out of interest what value do you put on it as a domain/site? i.e. If someone had £5k would you sell? Or do you see long term plans and wouldn't sell for anything at this stage?
  • How many paying businesses do you have if any at the moment?

I know of a local GEO website of a small Town that charges £30 a month for a sidebar placement and is always full. I'd stick feelers out there and start at £15pm for the first 3 months.

Phil, try speaking to Martin at Focus Digital. He has one of the best developed geos in the uk, and one of the best monetised (not to mention an amazing generic portfolio). I'd personally be worried about selling advertising without having traffic numbers worth boasting about however.

I did not realise that Mark Boulton did your design? I'm a big fan of his books.

Without knowing the numbers for the traffic it is a little hard to give numbers (but im about to anyway ;)). I would estimate, looking at the site and a quick look at competition etc I would be happy to put that to punters between £50 and £150 depending on size of space.

Thanks for comments, and ideas.
We'll get the SEO sorted, increase the traffic, and then look into offering banner ads.

Has anyone else noticed Acorn being invaded by paid forum posters lately, or is just me? Two on this thread, writing just barely legible and barely relevant posts.

Ironic I suppose, as many domainers use these services.

Sorry for the off topic post Phil.
