Becoming A Registrar Costs

I think I'm going to take the plunge and become a registrar and get my tag.

Just have a couple quick questions, (as it's 11:50pm I'm sure I will get a quicker answer out of one of you guys than waiting to email/ring nominet in the morning.)

Looking at the fees it says joining fee £480

it also says annual subscription £120

Does the joining fee cover the first year or will it be £480+£120?

Also I need access to the DAC correct which is minor, is there anything else?

If your references are unsatisfactory or unavailable we will ask you to deposit a sum of money against your account before you can make any transactions using our registrar systems

Does anyone know how much that sum is?

Yes, £600 + VAT and I think it's £25 + VAT for the DAC access, and then the annual £100 + VAT membership fee each year.

Does anyone know how much that sum is?

It was open to negotiation when I joined, but you'll need to have at least as much as you expect to spend in 1 month otherwise it will be a pain to keep topping up. Not sure what it is these days, but keep your nose clean and you should be able to get a credit account quite quickly.

Need to prepay some money in to Nominet for new registrations and renewals on your transfered in domains.

Hopefully your domain catching under your DAC will pay for the outlay.

Just dont carried away like I did and register hundreds of domains becuase it is so easy!

Applied a little earlier.

The membership will have been paid for by catches I've made with public catchers, dbcatch, dropsystem, dacr, domainmoster, can't speak highly enough of them, brilliant service they offer at great prices.

The only thing with them is really great names are always already booked well in advance, and even though I know it's unlikely with all the catchers out there I will be able to catch the great domains names even with my own tag, it will be nice to have my name in the hat and have the possibility no matter how slim.

Spices up life waiting and hoping for catches I've found, very enjoyable.

Became a member today and got my tag: MURRAY

Happy with the tag, it being my first name

I also asked admin to change my username on here, which he did, thank you for that.

Just need to buy murray co uk from those estate agents and id have the set lol.

Looking forward to trying to catch things, appreciate all the help and advice that's been given.
