Anyone know of one. I've used escrow.com in the past but am gnna do a big transaction soon where I have to pay the fees, and wherever I look the fees are steep.

Crazy really because there is the same amount of work for the escrow company no matter whether the domain is £1000 or £25000, but you get stiffed if the domain is pricy :(

Their standard prices might be for other goods such as cars etc with a bit of risk involved. Email them and ask them for a special rate for a domain, they might negotiate.

GW

Cheers GW will try to negotiate - not sure if it's possible with the big boys - sedo and escrow.com they seem to be wanting a minimum of 3% for domain escrow.

Am I correct in thinking that if you're the seller, when Escrow.com release the funds, they realease them in USD?

If so, you could be looking at another (upto) 3% charge by your UK bank for processing.

Ouch!

I think so, and so it really squeezes the profit or price depending on buyer or seller.

I ended up taking a risk and it seems to have worked out without escrow but has saved me a lot.

I used escrow dot com before and I do have to agree with you that their fees are pretty high. However, I never had a problem with them and I thought that even if I have to pay a bit more, it is better than to use a cheap escrow company and loose my domain and my money. Anyways, if anyone had used another reliable escrow service with a cheaper fee I would love to know!

yeah me too - i want to know a cheaper reliable one -

but for now the transfer has gone through and it's been safe without escrow - so I'm happy and have saved a few hundred pounds.

Sedo charge 3% for escrow services outside of auctions. I am probably too trusting and have a statement of intent buyer and seller sign before progressing, not sure if it's worth the paper it's written on but I know i'll hunt them down if they scam me.

yep - i'm ready to hunt my seller too, but it looks as though the transfer has gone through completely thanks to nominets new online transfer system.
