best service to catch a .com

I've seen a .com registered with the following WHOIS:

Can anyone let me know when it's likely to drop - or what the best service would be to try and catch it? I've only ever used UK drop catching services or caught them myself (back in the OLD old days!).

I used Domain Monster to catch AcornAuctions.com on the drop today, worked well and cost me £40

Just register an account and backorder the domain (no catch no fee)

I had no idea Domain Monster offered .com drops, thanks!

The big three for .com drops are:
snapnames.com
pool.com
namejet.com - you need to place the booking at the last min (around 5pm our time but verify) on this one because bookings are publicly visible on the site.

Anybody know how competitive Domain Monster are with the big three posted above?

Yesterday I needed to catch a .net (eDisclosure.net if anyone's interested) so I backordered it with Snapnames, Pool, Namejet and Domain Monster. As per Hal's excellent advice, I refrained from backordering until a few minutes before 17:00 GMT for Namejet, which is currently 9:00 PST. This helped to ensure that I was the only bidder for the domain.

The name dropped within two hours of 9:00 PST. It was caught by one of Namejet's many 'partners'. Namejet/eNom have emailed me my login details. Snapnames have emailed me an apology for not catching the name. Domain Monster still have the name listed as scheduled to drop (I see this with .co.uks for quite a while after the drop sometimes). I've heard nothing from Pool or Domain Monster yet.

I'm aware that there was a chance that the domain could have just dropped without any competition for a manual registration but the name is worth too much to me to take that risk: eDisclosure is something I'm starting to deal with on a regular basis in my 'day job' so the extra few quid to ensure the securing of the domain was worth it in comparison to the risk of not securing the domain.

So I'm now the owner of eDisclosure.net. It'll be a pretty useful name for me. I just wish it were the .com!

depends what registrar is dropping the domain as to who can catch it
anyone can try but the whole dropping game for tlds is very much a circle jerk and who partners with who, the registries are linked in with drophouses

congrats on acornauctions as is a GREAT name for you
if domainmonster caught that com its fair to assume noone else on planet tried to catch which is surprising
however people may have tried to manually reg a few seconds later in which case you would have lost anyway, so was a safe bet
if you are really wanting to catch in future i wouldnt rely on them!
